WHAT THE HECK IS A "DOGSCAPE"?
You’ve heard of landscapes, sure—but have you experienced a dogscape? It’s that magical combo of beautiful scenery + a furball doing something ridiculous or heart-melting (or both). As a pet photographer, I’ve discovered that the right setting doesn’t just make a photo pretty—it tells a story. And that story always stars your dog.
Let’s take a little tour of some of my favorite “dogscapes,” aka the types of locations where your pup’s personality can truly shine.
🌾 The Wild Meadow Muse
Soft green grass, tall swaying stems, and just a hint of chaotic zoomies. Meadows are a dream for dogs who like to run free (or look dramatically windswept). These open spaces give us that dreamy, editorial look—like your dog is modeling for the cover of Bark & Field magazine.
Ideal for: free spirits, sunset lovers, and pups with main character energy.
Pro Tip: Don’t worry about a little grass in the mouth. Adds texture. And drama.
🧱 The Urban Jungle
Who says beauty only lives in nature? Graffiti walls, sleek industrial textures, and colorful murals are amazing contrasts to soft fur and soulful eyes. I love bringing a bit of edge to a session—especially if your pup is a certified city slicker who struts like they own the sidewalk (because... they do).
Ideal for: confident city dogs, smaller breeds that pop against bold backgrounds, or pets who wouldn’t be caught dead rolling in mud.
Bonus: Plenty of coffee shops nearby for bribes—uh, treats.
🌊 The Beachy Vibe Check
Salty air, squishy paws, and the ultimate opportunity for ear-flapping action shots. Beaches offer big drama with crashing waves, but also peaceful, reflective moments with still water and sunsets. Whether we’re going full Baywatch sprint or “soft and sandy” with driftwood zen, coastal dogscapes hit every note.
Ideal for: water lovers, drama queens, and dogs with a deep inner monologue.
Note: If your pup hates water, no stress—we’ll stick to the dunes and let them serve dryland elegance.
🌲 The Forest Daydream
Filtered light, hidden trails, mossy logs—it’s like stepping into a fairy tale where your dog is the enchanted creature guiding us to snacks. Forests are magical for soft portraits and curious pups who like to explore (read: sniff everything and possibly trip me with a stick).
Ideal for: gentle souls, senior dogs, and pups who appreciate a good mystery squirrel.
So, Why Dogscapes?
Because your dog deserves more than a blurry phone snap in the backyard.
They deserve to be captured in a place that feels like them—wild, playful, chill, curious, regal, goofy... whatever makes them uniquely them.
The landscape sets the stage.
Your dog brings the story.
And together? We make art you’ll want on your wall forever.
